Frequently Asked Questions

Is Simply Popups free?

Yes, Simply Popups Lite is free and available in the WordPress plugin directory. It includes the button click trigger. Simply Popups Pro is a paid upgrade that adds advanced triggers (Link, Image, Page Load, Exit Intent), delayed triggers, and priority support.

Do I need Formidable Forms to use this plugin?

No. Simply Popups is a standalone plugin. While it integrates perfectly with Formidable Forms, it works with any WordPress block, including core blocks, other form plugins, and media.

Will this slow down my site?

No. Simply Popups is extremely lightweight. It only loads assets (CSS/JS) on pages where a popup is actually present. It uses native WordPress blocks, avoiding the bloat of heavy page builder addons.

Features & Functionality

Can I put a popup on every page?

Yes. You can add a Page Load trigger popup to a reusable block or a template part (like a footer) to have it appear site-wide. Alternatively, you can manually add popup blocks to specific pages.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes. Simply Popups is fully responsive. Modals automatically resize to fit smaller screens, and touch interactions are supported. Note that “Exit Intent” triggers do not work on mobile devices (as there is no cursor), so you may want to use a “Delayed” trigger instead for mobile users.

Can I have multiple popups on one page?

Yes. You can add as many Simply Popups blocks to a page as you like. Each one works independently with its own trigger and content.

Troubleshooting

Why can’t I see the trigger settings?

You likely have the Button or Content child block selected. You need to select the Parent Simply Popups Block. Use the Document Overview (List View) icon in the toolbar to easily select the parent block.

My popup isn’t closing when I click outside.

Check the Click Outside to Close setting in the parent block sidebar. Ensure it is toggled ON.

I see a license warning but I’m using the free version.

If you have Formidable Forms Lite installed, you might see a cross-promotion or compatibility notice. This is informational and does not affect functionality. You can dismiss it.

Pro Features

What happens if my license expires?

Simply Popups Pro will continue to work on your site, but you will no longer receive updates, security patches, or access to priority support. You also won’t be able to activate the Pro features on new sites.

Can I upgrade from Lite to Pro without losing my popups?

Yes. Simply install and activate the Pro plugin. All your existing popups created with the Lite version will remain intact and gain access to Pro features.
