Adding Content to Popups

One of the best features of Simply Popups is that the content area behaves just like the standard WordPress editor. Add text, images, videos, forms, or any block you’re already comfortable with. If you can build it in WordPress, you can build it in your popup.

The Popup Content Area

The “Simply Popups Content” block acts as a container for your message.

  1. Click inside the popup content area (the gray/white box).
  2. You will see a (+) icon or “Type / to choose a block” prompt.
  3. Add blocks just as you would on a regular page.

1. Headings and Text

Use the standard Heading and Paragraph blocks to craft your message.

  • Headings: Use H2 or H3 for your main title. Keep it short and punchy.
  • Text: Keep paragraphs short (1-2 sentences). Users scan popups quickly.

2. Images and Media

You can drag and drop images directly into the popup.

  • Image Block: Add product photos or icons.
  • Video Block: Embed YouTube or Vimeo videos. Tip: Keep videos short or set them to autoplay if appropriate.
  • Columns: Use the Columns block to create a layout with text on one side and an image on the other.

3. Buttons

Add a Buttons block inside the popup for your call-to-action (CTA).

  • “Shop Now”
  • “Learn More”
  • “Get Discount”

This is different from the Trigger Button that opens the popup. This is the button inside the popup that users click to take action.

4. Forms

Popups are perfect for lead generation. You can embed forms from any plugin:

  • Formidable Forms: (Recommended) Use the Formidable block. Enable AJAX for seamless submission. See Integration Guide
  • Contact Form 7: Paste the shortcode into a Shortcode block.
  • WPForms: Use the WPForms block.

Layout Tips

Using Columns

To make your popup look professional, try a 50/50 column layout:

  1. Add a Columns block inside the popup.
  2. Select the 50/50 variation.
  3. Place an Image in the left column.
  4. Place your Heading and Form in the right column.

Spacing and Padding

The popup content block has built-in padding settings.

  1. Select the Simply Popups Content block.
  2. In the sidebar settings, look for Dimensions or Padding.
  3. Increase the padding to give your content more breathing room (e.g., 2rem or 40px).

What NOT to Put in a Popup

Avoid these common mistakes: Huge images that load slowly, too much text (copy-pasting entire articles), autoplaying audio (universally disliked), and complex navigation (keep focus on one action).
